Privacy Policy
This policy explains what data the RootBill app ("RootBill", "we", "us") handles and why. In short: your invoices, clients and business details are stored on your device, not on our servers. We do not sell your data and we do not show ads.
Who we are
RootBill is provided by Rootie Technologies s.r.o., Czech Republic, which is the controller of personal data described in this policy. Contact: support@rootbill.app.
Data stored on your device
Your business profile, logo, clients, saved items, invoices, estimates, receipts and signatures are stored locally on your phone. We cannot see or access them. If you delete the app, this data is deleted unless you made a backup or exported it yourself.
Voice fill
When you use "Fill by voice":
- Your speech is converted to text by your phone's built-in speech recognition (Apple on iPhone, Google on Android). Depending on your device and settings, this may happen on the device or on Apple's or Google's servers, under their privacy policies.
- The resulting text, together with the names and prices of your saved items and the names of your clients, is sent over an encrypted connection to our server so it can be turned into invoice lines. Our server uses OpenAI's API to do this.
- We do not store this text or use it for any other purpose. OpenAI processes it on our behalf and, under its API terms, does not use it to train its models.
Voice fill is optional. You can always type instead.
Purchases
Subscriptions are processed by the App Store or Google Play. We do not receive your payment card details. We receive information about your subscription status (for example, active or expired) so we can unlock paid features.
Sharing invoices
When you send an invoice, RootBill opens your phone's share options (email, messages and similar). The document goes through the app you choose, under that app's terms.
What we do not do
- No account or login is required.
- No advertising and no ad tracking.
- No selling or renting of your data.
Legal basis and retention
We process the voice fill text to provide the feature you asked for (performance of a contract) and discard it as soon as the request is complete. Subscription status is kept for as long as your subscription is relevant.
Your rights
If you are in the EU, UK or a similar jurisdiction, you have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict processing, and to complain to a data protection authority. Because we do not store your invoices or voice text, most of your data is under your direct control on your device. For any request, email support@rootbill.app.
Children
RootBill is a business tool and is not intended for children under 13.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above. Significant changes will be announced in the app.
